Two arrest in mail box vandilism

    On 04-23-2015 the Wright County Sheriff’s Office started receiving phone calls from residences on Whetstone, Coke, Fox Creek, Kaylor, Dogwood and Bell Crossing roads that their mail boxes had been destroyed. App 50 mailboxes have been reported so far. A caller from just inside Texas County called as well. One caller gave a description of a vehicle that had subjects in it that was bashing the mail boxes on Whetstone road. The caller described the vehicle as being a Dark in Color Toyota pickup.

    Deputy McCleary was dispatched to the area and he located the vehicle that was reported. He stopped the vehicle and made contact with 2 males in the vehicle. Deputy McCleary obtained a confession and arrested both subjects. One male was 16 years old and a Juvenile, the other male was 17 years of age. Deputy McCleary also located the baseball bat used to beat the mailboxes.

    Joseph Holt was charged in Wright County Circuit Court with Felony 1st Degree Property damage and is being held at the Wright County Jail. His bond is set at $5,000 cash. The Juvenile will be charged through the Juvenile Court System.

    If you have had your mail box damaged around the Mtn Grove area and have not reported it please call the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at 417-741-7576 and report it.

Most of the time we never get a description of a suspect vehicle because it happens so fast and is dark out but this time an observant person got a good description of a vehicle and the Deputy was able to locate it and make arrests.
