From Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase

On October 4, 2013 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to AE Highway for a burglary in progress in North Eastern Douglas County. The homeowner initially had the vehicle blocked in as Deputies were responding. The suspect drove off the drive way and went around the homeowner and fled the scene leaving behind an accomplice that fled into the woods.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase notified the Wright County Sheriff Glenn Adler and Missouri State Highway Patrol of the vehicle information. One of the suspects, Michael Bunts age 36 of Mtn. Grove was taken into custody by Sheriff Adler after he met the vehicle on Cherokee Road in Wright County. Inside Bunts vehicle items stolen from the Douglas County residence were located by the Sheriff’s. Requests for warrants have been filed with the Douglas County Prosecutor at the time of this press release.

A search began for the subject that fled on foot and he was subsequently located by a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper walking at the intersection of AE Highway and 95 Highway. The male subject fled on foot which resulted in a search by numerous officers from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Mtn. Grove Police Department.

The search was terminated at approximately 1400 hours and the subject was not located. The subject fled into a heavily wooded area near the Douglas and Wright County Line. Sheriff Degase advised that they were able to identify the subject that fled as Ronald Watkins age 36 of Mtn. Grove. Watkins has a pending warrant out of Douglas County for theft of a Credit Card which is a result of a case worked by Deputy Nathan Long earlier in the year where Watkins was found using credit cards that were stolen from vehicles while they were parked at church.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in locating Ronald Watkins. If you know his whereabouts please contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 683-1020 or your local law enforcement agency. It is reported that Watkins may be clean shaven instead of having the goatee.

Sheriff Degase would like to thank all the agencies for their assistance. The cooperative efforts of all the agencies, neighbors and the home owner getting a good description of the suspects, and their vehicle, resulted in the immediate apprehension of Bunts. SUBJECT IN CUSTODY
